Roast Style: Progressive

These tend to be lighter bodied coffees, that forefront flavour nuances inherent to the specific bean. These coffees tend to have natural sweetness and distinctive aromatic properties.

As a general guide, they'll be great brewed using any filter method. We'd recommend trying them black.

Roaster's Notes

Geisha is arguably the most widely sought after variety within specialty coffee, and this
lot showcases the harmonious interplay between variety, terroir and processing. The depth of flavour, stemming from this coveted variety and the exceedingly high growing conditions, is complemented by the delicate acidity and velvety texture; qualities that can be more closely attributed to its honey processing.

When navigating roasting these prized lots, careful preparation is paramount. This involves numerous sample roasts and brew tests in the pursuit of this reserve’s full expression. Notes of rosewater, mango and lingering blueberry beautifully evolves as this coffee cools.

COFFEE ORIGIN INFO

Geisha, or sometimes 'Gesha' - a nod to the assumed Ethiopian provenance of the original seedstock, is specialty coffee's celebrity variety of the last two decades. Originally made famous in Panama, various other producing regions have since planted this cultivar, with varying degrees of success. Colombia's high growing altitudes act in its favour, and we're excited to release this stellar example produced by farmer Jhon Samboni on his farm in the Huila region.

Look out for distinctive floral aromatics, as well as a host of fruity notes - from citrus and apricot to tropical fruit; all hallmarks of the cultivar.
