Gentle acidity, balanced, toasted cereal sweetness

Roasters' Notes:

This Swiss Water Decaf lot is made up of only the red bourbon variety and comes from the famous coffee producing region of Santa Ana in El Salvador.

As a natural coffee having undergone a supplementary decaffeination process, we keep the pitch of the ramp gentle and development time short so these brittle beans don't take a beating. The most tangible benefit of Swiss Water coffee is that it better preserves the distinctive terroir character of the green. This roast is gentle and balanced, with toasted cereal references and a pleasant sweetness and pairs really well with milk.

Roast style: Classic

Coffee Origin Information:

The Swiss Water® Decaf process is a world renowned decaffeination method in which coffee is decaffeinated using an environmentally friendly, chemical-free water process to remove 99.9% of caffeine.

Premium decaf coffee should always be more expensive than its caffeinated equivalent if high quality, fresh crop is used. This is as a result of the additional processing required. Other more prevalent methods still make use of chemical solvents, such as methylene chloride, to strip caffeine molecules from the green beans - impacting body, aroma and flavour as natural oils and flavour compounds are relinquished to the caffeine extraction process.

Finca La Esperanza – perfectly suited to growing coffee with the farm’s volcanic soil – spans altitudes between 1000 - 1750m ASL. This lot forms part of their Small Batch Series. These lots are traceable to a farm level, where only fresh, seasonal coffee is decaffeinated.

The trajectory in the demand for better quality decaffeinated coffee is ever increasing, there's no need to give up the delicious coffee experience you have your heart set on!
