Blue Batak derives its name from the indigenous Batak people who grow coffee in the north of Sumatra. The cherries are hand-picked and demiculaged in wooden luwaks (a hand-powered mill) while they're still wet. They are then sun-dried and finally resorted by hand to make sure any remaining defects are removed

The co-op has a proud history of producing some of Kenya's most internationally lauded coffees and still holds the record for the highest price paid for a Kenyan coffee.
